All of us have heard the term moonshine before, all of us know it’s illegal, but few of us really know what it is or how it’s made. For most of us it’s just something that they do in the hill country of Arkansas and Tennessee and doesn’t really effect us. But that’s not really true. This history of moonshining and the science behind it effect our lives today from everything from soda pop to professional racing and a lot of things in between. Here is a brief primer on both. First, lets get a few things straight. This whole […]
That’s why we have to have green energy and recycle today because the previous generation was a very wasteful generation. At least that’s what they are telling everyone. When you hear someone talk about being wasteful, I want you to remember reading this story: How Wasteful the Older Generation Was In the line at the store, the cashier told the older woman that she should bring her own grocery bag because plastic bags weren’t good for the environment. The woman apologized to him and explained, “We didn’t have the green thing back in my day.” The clerk responded, “That’s our […]
In a proposed 3.8 trillion dollars President Obama has proposed digging deep and cutting deep and managed to cut $775 Million dollars. From here. The Foreign Language Assistance Program (FLAP) grant was awarded to Mansfield ISD last summer by the U.S. Department of Education. As part of the five-year $1.3 Million grant, Arabic classes would be mandatory at Cross Timbers Intermediate School and Kenneth Davis Elementary School. The program would also be optional for students at T. A. Howard Middle School and Summit High School. Parents at Cross Timbers say they were caught off-guard by the program, and were surprised the district only told them about it in a meeting Monday night between parents and Mansfield ISD Superintendent Bob Morrison. The DOE […]
The FDA continues to control the free market more and more – keep in mind the FDA has recently had a huge power grab with the Food bill that just passed pushed forward by progressives. Tobacco companies led by Altria Group Inc. and Reynolds American Inc. must get U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval to sell products introduced or changed in the past four years, a move that may let the agency keep more addictive items off the market. Products that weren’t commercially available on Feb. 15, 2007, must be submitted for review, the FDA said today in a statement. […]
There has been a lot of rhetoric involving what income levels should be taxed the most. Recent studies show that nearly fifty percent of all Americans do not pay taxes. Instead the fifty percent who are freeloading actually MAKE money during tax time. So what should we do to level the playing field? There are a number of options – the first of which is to educate the masses as to how unjust our taxation structure is. More and more our government wishes to harness the output of the most wealthy for some form of social justice through tax credits […]
Well part of it – the whole mandate thing he ruled it over-reached the commerce clause in the Constitution. A federal district judge in Virginia ruled on Monday that the keystone provision in the Obama health care law is unconstitutional, becoming the first court in the country to invalidate any part of the sprawling act and ensuring that appellate courts will receive contradictory opinions from below. More here.
As usual communists are at it again – this time weaseling their way into politics and then denying their connections ever happened. In the 30’s and 40’s the communists managed to assert themselves into American politics and it took the 50’s to root them all out but now we’re seeing this resurgence of progressives and down right full-on-double-rainbow communists. For example: Trevor Loudon has uncovered some unsettling news: The Communist Party USA once considered Minnesota Secretary of State Mark Ritchie a “friend of the party.” Using what are reportedly secret, first-hand documents, Loudon shows how CPUSA praised the secretary back […]
So far they’ve found 250 illegal pools and collected $75,000 in fines and fees. Of course not everyone thinks that a city should be spending time looking at aerial pictures of backyards. Rest of the story here.
