Today we heard things like: “We have to live within our means.. get back on a path to pay down our debt” “We will all need to make sacrifices” These are talking points for beginning to discuss cutting the deficit by 4 trillion dollars in 12 years. It used to be 10 years he’s now adjusted it to 12 to make sure that they don’t start actually doing anything until after the election. I’m sorry pushing off 2 years to actually doing something isn’t going to cut it this time. I’m tired of just hearing talking points and seeing no […]
So you want to recondition or refurbish your old smoker? So do I. We’ve put together this walk through on how we worked on this old smoker and hopefully it will serve as a guide for any of you out there who are thinking about the same thing. I was given BBQ smoker by a friend of mine that needed some serious TLC as it had sat outside exposed to the elements for years. After setting forth a game plan, I engaged a buddy of mine at PowersGaming who has experience in doing this and we documented the process as […]
From Fox. The U.S. fired four additional Tomahawk missiles at Libya air defense systems Sunday, bringing the grand total to 124, a senior U.S. Defense official tells Fox News. Previously: From CNN. William Gortney said at a Saturday Pentagon briefing. Nineteen U.S. warplanes, including stealth bombers and fighter jets, conducted strike operations in Libya on Sunday morning, officials said. Tomahawk cruise missiles are unmanned and fly close to the ground, steering […]
From here. The Medicare actuary shed light on this so-called “double counting” last year in an April 22 memo. “In practice,” he wrote, “the improved Part A financing cannot simultaneously be used to finance other Federal outlays (such as the coverage expansions under the PPACA) and to extend the trust fund, despite the appearance of this result from the respective accounting conventions.” “There is an issue here on the budget because your own actuary has said you can’t double-count,” Shimkus said. “You can’t count — they’re attacking Medicare on the CR when their bill, your law, cut $500 billion from […]
Being gentlemen who enjoy fine tobacco we regularly sample different blends of pipe tobacco. I recently re-discovered The Tinderbox – online. Previously I went to their store when they had one in Beaumont Texas, but alas it was closed some years ago. Now they have an online store, at least they did until today. Apparently they are now under new management one can only hope that they continue to sell the same great blends and tobacco. So maybe this review is coming to you a bit too late. I’ve previously ordered several sample blends but I came across something different: […]
This is pretty sad news and I haven’t seen any of the major news agencies reporting it. He died at the ripe old age of 110 yesterday the 27th of February. He died in his sleep at his farm in West Virginia. Men of this caliber are rarely seen today. Original Source of his biography located here, and here. Frank Woodruff Buckles’ life spans the awesome, horrible, fantastic, dreadful Twentieth Century. He has seen and experienced much. As America’s last surviving veteran witness to the First World War, his life experiences and perspective are a living artifact in our day […]

From here. Over the weekend, the White House and Democratic Party officials pushed back against criticism from Republicans that Mr. Obama and his political network were meddling in the Wisconsin dispute. These are outright fabrications. In fact Brad Woodhouse, the Democratic Party Communications Director, was spotted crowing about Obama’s involvement as recently as Thursday. And Obama’s political wing — an extension of the SEIU, it would appear — is still hawking the protests. According to Politico‘s Ben Smith, it has published at least 54 tweets promoting the rallies.
WASHINGTON (AP) — In rapid-fire action Friday, the Republican-controlled House voted to strip federal money from President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul and from Planned Parenthood and to bar the EPA from issuing global warming regulations. Upping the ante in the budget faceoff, the Obama administration warned that workers who distribute Social Security benefits might be furloughed if congressional Republicans force cuts in government spending. From here. The Foreign Language Assistance Program (FLAP) grant was awarded to Mansfield ISD last summer by the U.S. Department of Education. As part of the five-year $1.3 Million grant, Arabic classes would be mandatory at Cross Timbers Intermediate School and Kenneth Davis Elementary School. The program would also be optional for students at T. A. Howard Middle School and Summit High School. Parents at Cross Timbers say they were caught off-guard by the program, and were surprised the district only told them about it in a meeting Monday night between parents and Mansfield ISD Superintendent Bob Morrison. The DOE […]
That’s right – you knew more government regulations always have unintended consequences – and this is the case – all new debt the credit card companies have raised their interest rates to record levels. While the Credit CARD Act did limit how much consumers would be charged for late payment or over the limit spending on their credit cards, the Act did not address the creation of other penalty fees. For example, in late 2009, Fifth Third Bank started charging $19 for cardholders who had not used their credit cards in 12 months (2). Citi started charging a higher interest […]
A federal judge in Florida has ruled that the president’s health care overhaul, “Obamacare,” is unconstitutional. The judge based his ruling on the unconstitutionality of the law’s individual mandate. The ruling affects the 26 states who had joined together to file a case against the law, but also has implications for the entire country.
