From here Students in a Texas public high school were made to stand up and recite the Mexican national anthem and Mexican pledge of allegiance as part of a Spanish class assignment, but the school district maintains there was nothing wrong with the lesson. It happened last month in an intermediate Spanish class at Achieve Early College High School in McAllen, Texas — a city located about 10 miles from the U.S.-Mexico border. Really nothing wrong with this? What the hell is happening to our school systems? Do we go to Mexico and demand they say the United States Pledge?
Really? Think they are actually going to make cuts? In a time when its political suicide to let any government downsizing happen – the post office is broke. Hell, its been broke forever. It can’t run like a business because you have politicians ruling over it. Other countries have successfully privatized their postal service, why can’t we? There is little consensus on legislation to overhaul the agency, which could include cutting Saturday delivery, allowing the agency to dip into an estimated surplus in a retirement fund or raising its borrowing limit. Wait? Dip into a retirement fund? Am I reading that right? […]
All of us have heard the term moonshine before, all of us know it’s illegal, but few of us really know what it is or how it’s made. For most of us it’s just something that they do in the hill country of Arkansas and Tennessee and doesn’t really effect us. But that’s not really true. This history of moonshining and the science behind it effect our lives today from everything from soda pop to professional racing and a lot of things in between. Here is a brief primer on both. First, lets get a few things straight. This whole […]
Seriously? Did the Tea Party members spend us into this much debt? Nope. Did the Tea Party Members vote to keep borrowing money that we don’t have? Nope. Hello straw-man argument.
That’s why we have to have green energy and recycle today because the previous generation was a very wasteful generation. At least that’s what they are telling everyone. When you hear someone talk about being wasteful, I want you to remember reading this story: How Wasteful the Older Generation Was In the line at the store, the cashier told the older woman that she should bring her own grocery bag because plastic bags weren’t good for the environment. The woman apologized to him and explained, “We didn’t have the green thing back in my day.” The clerk responded, “That’s our […]
Even though more jobs were added, unemployment increased from 8.8 to 9% and that doesn’t count the number of underemployed or not reported. CNN: The unemployment rate edged up to 9.0%, ending a streak of four straight months of declines. Economists had forecast it would remain unchanged at 8.8%. The rate often increases as the job market improves and previously discouraged workers return to labor force. An additional 113,000 people who were not counted among the unemployed in March, re-entered the labor force in April.
Drama between the progressive press and the White House Communications office erupts into Democrat vs Democrat hearsay controversy.
The San Franciscan press is in a tit for tat with the White House over whether or not Chicago style politics are being employed over the ‘regulated’ freedom of the press. What is more? A union is at the core of the regulatory confines of the press when dealing with fundraising efforts of our incumbent Leader…. Reader more here.
Apparently the current presidential administration prides itself on myths and then ticks off their own base in 3 different ways – 1. Not as Progressive 2. Not as Transparent 3. Pissing off the San Fransisco press Read it at the San Fransisco Gate here.
From here. Although he’s traditionally seen as an American hero (remember, though, he is an alien), Superman is fed up with being connected to the USA. According to the Comics Alliance blog (and reported by BoingBoing), in Action Comics #900 Superman tells the president‘s national security adviser that he’s had enough of the Red, White, and Blue. Just when I thought things couldn’t get any stranger, this popped up into my view and I had to bring it up. I don’t know about you but since when did Truth, Justice, and the American Way start being a bad concept? I […]
Today we heard things like: “We have to live within our means.. get back on a path to pay down our debt” “We will all need to make sacrifices” These are talking points for beginning to discuss cutting the deficit by 4 trillion dollars in 12 years. It used to be 10 years he’s now adjusted it to 12 to make sure that they don’t start actually doing anything until after the election. I’m sorry pushing off 2 years to actually doing something isn’t going to cut it this time. I’m tired of just hearing talking points and seeing no […]
From here. The Medicare actuary shed light on this so-called “double counting” last year in an April 22 memo. “In practice,” he wrote, “the improved Part A financing cannot simultaneously be used to finance other Federal outlays (such as the coverage expansions under the PPACA) and to extend the trust fund, despite the appearance of this result from the respective accounting conventions.” “There is an issue here on the budget because your own actuary has said you can’t double-count,” Shimkus said. “You can’t count — they’re attacking Medicare on the CR when their bill, your law, cut $500 billion from […]
From here. Over the weekend, the White House and Democratic Party officials pushed back against criticism from Republicans that Mr. Obama and his political network were meddling in the Wisconsin dispute. These are outright fabrications. In fact Brad Woodhouse, the Democratic Party Communications Director, was spotted crowing about Obama’s involvement as recently as Thursday. And Obama’s political wing — an extension of the SEIU, it would appear — is still hawking the protests. According to Politico‘s Ben Smith, it has published at least 54 tweets promoting the rallies.
WASHINGTON (AP) — In rapid-fire action Friday, the Republican-controlled House voted to strip federal money from President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul and from Planned Parenthood and to bar the EPA from issuing global warming regulations. Upping the ante in the budget faceoff, the Obama administration warned that workers who distribute Social Security benefits might be furloughed if congressional Republicans force cuts in government spending.
