From here. NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) — The Great Recession ended in June 2009, according to the body charged with dating when recessions begin and end. The National Bureau of Economic Research, an independent group of economists, released a statement Monday saying economic data now clearly points to the economy turning higher last summer. That makes the 18-month recession that started in December 2007 the longest and deepest downturn for the U.S. economy since the Great Depression. I’m gonna call BS on this one. Michelle Malkin has great commentary on this one.
(Reuters) – Connecticut this autumn probably would have just a little more cash than it needs to pay a week’s expenses unless it issues $520 million of debt, according to the state comptroller. Treasurer Denise Nappier, in a letter to the Connecticut Bond Commission, outlined her response to concerns that were raised about the state’s finances by a legislator. (continued)
So far they’ve found 250 illegal pools and collected $75,000 in fines and fees. Of course not everyone thinks that a city should be spending time looking at aerial pictures of backyards. Rest of the story here.
EFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Missouri voters on Tuesday overwhelmingly rejected a key provision of President Barack Obama’s health care law, sending a clear message of discontent to Washington and Democrats less than 100 days before the midterm elections. Rest of the story here.
This weekend promises to have a bunch of great seminars that discuss our founding fathers, liberty, and our Constitution. I thought it would be important to remind people what the true meaning of Left vs. Right on the political spectrum is. After a brief conversation with some co-workers who labeled Nazism as Right-Wing nut jobs, I had to correct them and draw up this graph which represents the correct political spectrum where Nazism and Communism exist on the far left end of the total state controlled government. I actually looked around first and didn’t see anything that resembled this scale […]
Tastes Great, Less Filling? I didn’t acquire the taste of beer until I reached the ripe old age of 22. And for someone from Louisiana that’s considered just plain wrong. Especially because Louisiana was one of the last hold-outs of changing the legal drinking age from 18 to 21. My father wanted to introduce me to alcohol and how it would effect me in a safe environment at an earlier age, suggesting that “its better you learn what it does to you with me boy, than with your idiot friends.” So because of that I tried beer, wine, and a […]
From here. The legislation requires a regulatory council to look for threats to the system, creates a consumer protection bureau, forces large failing firms to liquidate and polices financial instruments that have been largely unregulated. It would assess a fee on large banks and hedge funds to pay for the $19 billion (euro15.5 billion) costs of the bill.
In pointing out Juneteenth here. They are now mentioned here. Congrats! It’s always great to be picked up by a major news blog.
For the love of God, don’t get dear old dad a tie or a pair of socks, or some goofy golf balls. Get him something he’ll like as this year is the 100th anniversary of Fathers Day. It should be a memorable day and/or weekend. Every single red-blooded American man has a yearning to stand in front of a grill and smell flaming carcass. That’s why an important gift may be something as simple as a grill, or some new bbq tools. Remember, they don’t want a cook book or cooking advice as they have most likely had years to […]
You should know by now that Illinois is a very corrupt state and that unions have a stranglehold. But you probably never thought that teachers could retire on 26 million dollars. Lets reiterate, retire early after 34 years of work and you’ll retire on $26,000,000. Yeah how’s that work? Read the rest of the story at the Daily Bail.
After the President’s failed attempt to inspire confidence in us in his speech last night, where he spent more time trying to push cap and tax legislature than he did actually describing how they planned to fix the problem, I figured it would be a good idea to discuss some of the facts. 1. BP itself hasn’t existed as British Petroleum in some years. They merged with Amoco in 1998 . 2. The Deepwater Horizon oil rig is owned and operated by Transocean on behalf of BP – who is the majority owner of the oilfield they are drilling. 3. […]
